• Personalized prevention and intervention programs to maintain cognitive functions (various training regimes, partly in combination with electrical or magnetic brain stimulation, close cooperation with the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Magdeburg)
• Induction of neuroplasticity through combined physical and mental activity and their underlying mechanisms (e.g. BDNF, in cooperation with the Institute for Physiology)
• Early diagnosis of neurodegenerative processes (Locus coeruleus imaging, pupillometry, gait analysis under dual-task requirements), cooperation with the Department of Neuroradiology and the Clinic for Psychiatry
• Neurophysiological correlates of attention and working memory (behavioral, functional imaging, EEG & MEG), cooperation with the Department of Neuropsychology
• Influence of brain lesions on cognitive functions (VLBM, rTMS)
• Rehabilitation of cognitive and motor processes through non-invasive brain stimulation (TDCS) and virtual reality application (HTC vive)
• Pharmalogical fMRI (influence of dopamine and acetylcholine on selective attention and encoding in working memory)
• Sleep-dependent memory consolidation
