PhD at the FGW: Registration

As soon as you have found a subject and the right supervisor for your doctorate project, you can submit an Application to Register a Doctorate in order to be accepted as a doctorate student in the faculty.

Requirements for Registration

To register for a doctorate for the Dr. med. title, you need a completed course of study in human medicine in Germany or at least proof of passing the first sector of the medical examinations. If you completed your studies abroad, you need proof of recognition of the qualification in Germany. In this case, please contact the graduate studies office.

To register for a doctorate for the Dr. rer. medic. title, you need a completed non-medical course of study in Germany. If you completed your studies abroad, you need proof of recognition of the qualification in Germany. In this case, please contact the graduate studies office.

Matriculation as a doctorate student

In addition to registration at the faculty, we also recommend matriculation of one our three affiliated universities. You can only register at the affiliated university where your first-step assistance works. The two state affiliated universities have already established procedures for students in this regard.
